Series one consists of Dean Earl L. Packard's correspondence and reports files. Series two includes registration statistics summaries and enrollment distributions by credit hours. Series three consists of programs, faculty and registration lists, correspondence, and grade lists for the JESSI program. Biennial reports, series four, highlight the activities of the college for the given two-year period. Series five contains a self-evaluation report prepared by the School of Science in January 1960 for the Commission on Higher Schools, Northwest Association of Secondary and Higher Schools.

Dr. Earl Leroy Packard was known for his study of the fossil records of the Mesozoic and Cenozoic periods along the Pacific coast, as well as his summer geology field camps in Eastern Oregon. He attended the University of Washington from 1907 to 1912, receiving his BA and MA degrees in geology; three years later, in 1915, he received his PhD in paleontology from the University of California at Berkeley.
